Beware : Google Adsense keeping eye on you

How Google Adsense knows that you are clicking your own ads?
This question is asked so many times by new users. Even I received one comment on one of my previous posts where user asked me whether I have clicked on my own ads. So let me tell you one thing very clearly, don’t ever try to click on your own ads and never try to fool yourself. Google will surely catch you and soon it will send you the mail saying “Bye Bye!”. Here I have analyzed and make a list of some points describing how Google can know that you are clicking on your own ads.

  • Google search: Google keeps track of each and every search made from your PC and your IP.
  • Your IP: Google knows what your IP is. Let say you have dynamic IP and it is changing every time, no problem, remember Google is showing all the information regarding your PC in analytics. So they have all the information about your IP.
  • Group of IPs: If you try to make group of friends from different parts of the world, then also Google can track everybody and block all the IPs.
  • Your PC: Google knows the basic configuration of your PC. (RAM, CPU, BROWSER, etc…)
  • Gmail: When you create an account with Google, Google can easily track you whenever you use that account.
  • Google Tools: When you registered with any Google API or Tool, you are under the radar of Google. For Example, if you are using the webmaster tool or analytics tool, Google will have all the information regarding your sites and site statistics. ;)

So what I believe Google has more powerful investigating system then Scotland Yard, CIA or FBI. :D

I suggest instead of getting into this kind of stuff we should do proper link building and SEO for our blog and keep updating unique content frequently.

What is better? : Reciprocal Link or Backlink?

October 16, 2008 · Posted in Blogging, General, Link Building, Traffic Generation · 11 Comments
Many of my readers who are little new to blogging world asked me a very important question. “What is better? Reciprocal Link or Backlink?”. Yes this is really an interesting question and before giving an answer to this question lets first see the difference between reciprocal link and backlink.

Reciprocal Link : These links are two way. That means your link on some blog in return to that blog’s link on your blog.

Backlink : Backlink is the link on the other blog pointing to your blog. It can be reciprocal or one way link.

Now the answer to the question:

In my opinion I would prefer a backlink instead of reciprocal. (Yes, I would never ignore the good reciprocal link.)
Let say if my blog has a page with PR3 and i have 1 link of other page of my blog on this page. So my current page’s PR is now transferable to the link of other page.

So that link will get 100% of the transferrable PR. Now let say if I put one reciprocal link on the page with PR3, so now there are 2 links on that page and the transferable PR will be shared among those two. So now both have 50% share in the transferable PR. And I am loosing the share of 50%. Here note that you have not altered your share it is grabbed by some other link.

So what I suggest is if you are offered a one way link and a reciprocal link go for a one way link. Yes you can also go for a reciprocal link if it is really a good reciprocal.

Do not hessitate to share your views on this and also correct me if I am wrong somewhere.

Google says, This heat map illustrates these ideal placements on a sample page layout. The colors fade from dark orange (strongest performance) to light yellow (weakest performance). All other things being equal, ad placements above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page.

Similarly for blogs red color has the highest interaction with the users and then blue. Generally search box should be put on the top left area of the blog.

There are so many sites or blogs who have changed their layout after google has released this heat map, and they have seen incredible change in their click through means they are earning more online from google adsense than they were before. ;)
